Welcome to the Omega Sports Women’s Only Podcast, hosted by Cleo Faucette.

In this episode, we will be talking to Kate Freiheit and Katie McGregor with New Balance. Kate and Katie talk about their love of running, what it’s like to work for New Balance and why it’s so important to be a part of the local running community through partnerships with local retailers like Omega Sports.

New Balance stands for something bigger than sneakers. They champion those who are fearlessly driven by their passions. They elevate sport. They do right by people and the planet. And together with Omega Sports, they are driving meaningful change in our local communities with this month’s Move Morevember initiative.

Let’s meet Kate & Katie from New Balance

Representing New Balance, we have Katie McGregor, Account Manager and US World Champion Runner calling in from Minnesota and New Balance Trackster, Kate Freiheit joining us from Charlotte, NC.

Kate Freiheit has been a runner since middle school and has been in love with running ever since. She credits sports and running as being responsible for teaching her how to persevere, set goals and work hard to reach her goals. The camaraderie and support in the running community is just awesome! Normally (before covid-19), Kate spends her days traveling all around the Carolinas, representing New Balance since 2018.

Katie McGregor followed in her father’s footsteps and fell in love with running very early in life. She credits running as helping her gain confidence and also learned teamwork while gaining so much from the running community. Katie is recognized as a top U.S. distance runner with seven national titles, numerous placements on World Championships teams (track, cross country and half-marathon), a USA Running Circuit grand prix crown and fast times. These are just a few of Katie’s Career Highlights: 2005 USA Outdoor 10,000m champion; 1998 NCAA XC Champion; 3rd in 10,000m at 02 & 03 USA Outdoors; 1998 NCAA 5,000m runner-up.

New Balance Gives Back

It’s important for New Balance to support the community and they have definitely stepped up during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, New Balance was quick to help the community and began producing face masks in two of their factory sites in the U.S to help aid the medical community.

New Balance has continued to support its retailers as much as possible and has made it a top priority to be as active as possible in the community.

New Balance is excited to partner with Omega Sports during the initiative, Move Morevember. Omega Sports and global athletic leader, New Balance have teamed up to encourage locals to be more active throughout November through fitness and giving. Move Morevember encourages locals to be more active through November with fitness and giving. According to Second Harvest Food Bank NW North Carolina, 1 in 5 adults in Northwest North Carolina is food insecure and 1 in 4 children don’t get enough food to thrive. Omega Sports will be donating a portion of New Balance sales in November to local food banks to help fight hunger in our communities.

Visit Move Morevember for more information and how you can help the community.
